PREGNANCY & CHIROPRACTIC
Resources for Parents
What Is The Technique For Pregnancy?
The Webster Technique is a technique specific for women during pregnancy. It is a safe and gentle way to adjust pelvic structures, muscles and ligaments that become tight and painful during pregnancy. Treating these areas decreases back and hip pain associated with pregnancy and also allows the baby to get into the best possible position for birth. Many expectant moms come to see us, even if they are not experiencing any back or hip pain. It is important to have the pelvis evaluated for any misalignments, as this will help ensure a smooth delivery for both the Mom and Baby.
What Prenatal Training Does The Doctor Have?
Not every Chiropractor has the same specialized training to work with women during pregnancy. Dr. Jacobi has advanced training to work specifically with women during their pregnancy. She has trained with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is a Webster Certified Chiropractor. It is important to Dr. Jacobi to be utilizing the most up-to-date techniques that are available, this is why, she spends a lot of her free time at seminars throughout the year.
My Baby Is Transverse Or Breach
A Prenatal Chiropractor can't turn a breach baby, BUT we can align the Mom's pelvis to give the baby room to naturally flip and get into the optimal position for delivery. If your baby is currently transverse or breach, Dr. Jacobi will evaluate spine, pelvis and pelvic ligaments to determine if that may be a reason that your baby is not in the optimal position for delivery.
Should I See You After Delivery?
Yes! Dr. Jacobi is passionate about the importance of Chiropractic care both DURING and AFTER pregnancy. Having a post-delivery evaluation of your pelvis, spine, and abdominal musculature is essential to properly heal those tissues after delivery. We work with many Moms after delivery to help heal Diastasis Recti and Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions, that are commonly not treated or even evaluated by their other health care professionals.
